The Fraunhofer-Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, headquartered in Erlangen, Germany, conducts cutting-edge international research into microelectronic and information technology system solutions and services. More than 1,100 employees work in contract research for industry, service companies and public institutions. Founded in 1985, the institute has 14 locations in 11 cities and is the largest institute in the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

LZE GmbH is the interface that turns inventions into innovations. It offers companies access to new developments and products as well as services along the market launch. The focus is on high-technology topics. LZE GmbH sees itself as an innovation center that accelerates the introduction of new and emerging technologies in order to establish them in a dynamic environment.

The Leistungszentrum Elektroniksysteme is a joint initiative of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Fraunhofer IIS, Fraunhofer IISB and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), as well as other non-university research institutes and various industrial partners, to develop and establish an efficient transfer structure.
